Artificial Intelligence
Are we prepared?
Artificial Intelligence (AI) can play a significant role in helping to improve the quality of life worldwide. However, an open letter recently signed by hundreds of tech professionals warns that AI poses “profound risks to society and humanity.” These risks are the unintended consequences of AI being developed without careful planning, management, and regulation.
So, are we ready for its use by those with evil intent? Can it help those with such intent, with otherwise relatively low capability, create the most effective Weapon of Mass Destruction (WMD) the world has ever seen? What does AI provide to those hostile foreign state actors on the cusp of developing WMD, a quicker pathway and more effective devastation? Who can be held accountable for teaching and transferring such technology if acquired through AI extrapolation of data?
The question we need to ask ourselves, “are we ready to defeat the ill use of AI?” because it is no longer theoretical.
