About Paul
Prior to joining SummitET as a SME contractor in 2024, Paul Schmidt served as Wisconsin’s radiation control program director for 32 years. Before this, he worked in the nuclear power industry for 8 years in both technical and managerial positions.
During his tenure as Wisconsin’s program director, he managed radiation regulatory and emergency preparedness programs, coordinated the multi-year process needed to transition Wisconsin to an agreement state with the NRC, functioned as the primary State Radiological Coordinator (SRC) in numerous radiological drills, exercises and real events and helped develop and train other SRC’s.
Mr. Schmidt is a past chairperson of both the Conference of Radiation Control Program Directors and the Organization of Agreement States. He is currently certified as a FEMA Type 1 Radiological Operations Support Specialist (ROSS).
