When I decided to retire from the FBI I wanted to continue to make our communities safer in some way. I also did not want to work for a large company where I would just be a number. SummitET is a perfect fit, a company where each employee really is treated like part of the family and the work directly supports local law enforcement, federal agencies, and overseas partners.
My work/research will make a difference in the world because…
Over my career I have participated in hundreds of exercises involving locating and mitigating CBRN devices in different states and even other countries. Watching how different agencies and departments at the local, state, and federal levels handle similar scenarios allows me to give guidance and suggestions to customers who are looking to improve their preparedness. If I can help them become more prepared by sharing my experience, I think it will make their town, state, or country safer.
Three things you may not know about me
I was one of only a few executives trained to command the Render Safe team, an interagency effort led by the FBI to keep America safe and protect national assets from nuclear/chemical/biological terrorism.
I was lucky enough to be sent to Mongolia while in the U.S. Army as part of a training team. Mongolia was separating from the old Soviet model and was bringing in western militaries to train them. Amazing people and sights.
I have three teenagers who play 47 sports at the same time (or so it seems to me).
The best advice I’ve ever received
When you are looking for the dream job, make sure you consider the leadership, too. Poor leadership can make a dream job a nightmare, and if you are working for an inspirational leader any job is rewarding.

About Andrew
Andrew has over 22 years as a National Security and law enforcement professional. He recently retired from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) after serving as an Executive Manager and Supervisory Special Agent. While at FBI Headquarters, Andrew led the domestic CBRNE Render Safe mission for the United States, the execution of its multimillion-dollar budget, and the supervision of over 200 employees at numerous nationwide facilities. As a part of his national response portfolio, he built partnerships across the interagency and with U.S. foreign partners to resolve threats against the United States and U.S. interests abroad. Andrew routinely briefed his program capabilities to principals and White House executive staff. In order to test capability and ensure the success of the national mission, he led the development, planning, and execution of a national-level, interagency, counter-WMD exercise series.
Andrew served many years as an FBI field agent and field supervisor where he responded to numerous criminal and national security threats and incidents, including performing as a member of the FBI Special Weapons and Tactics Team conducting many high-risk arrests. While at the Washington Field Office, Andrew served as a member of the FBI Director’s Protective Detail where he was responsible for the executive protection training program and led multiple security trips both internationally and domestically. During his assignment to the Sacramento Division, one of his notable field successes was serving as the lead investigator on a multi-year public corruption investigation targeting local and state officials conspiring to utilize their positions for personal financial gain. These individuals were utilizing threats and solicitation of bribes from land developers and power companies, and the investigation resulted in the arrest and conviction of a sitting sheriff and four other state and local officials.
While a field supervisor he developed and implemented a comprehensive strategy focusing all federal law enforcement resources on specific extremely violent criminal street gangs resulting in multiple arrests, gun and drug seizures, and a decrease in violent activity. This approach was adopted by the Eastern District of California and used throughout the district. Throughout his career Andrew trained local, state, and federal law enforcement officers while serving as a SWAT operator/sniper, Tactical Instructor, and Firearms Instructor. Prior to joining the FBI, Andrew served on active duty in the U.S. Army as an armor officer, maintenance officer, and Assistant Professor of Military Science at Rutgers University, New Brunswick.
