SummitET is seeking a Chemical Subject Matter Expert to join our team, providing critical expertise in chemical defense strategies for federal customers. This full-time position will involve working remotely, with approximately 50% travel within the U.S. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in chemical preparedness and response, collaborating with state and local jurisdictions to enhance community resilience against chemical incidents. A graduate-level degree in a relevant field and a minimum of 10 years of related experience are required. This role is essential in supporting our mission to deliver tailored preparedness solutions that protect and empower communities.


Essential Functions:

  • Serve as a Chemical Subject Matter Expert for federal customers on awarded contract work.
  • Provide expertise in chemical defense, including prevention, preparedness, and response strategies.
  • Collaborate with state and local jurisdictions to enhance chemical preparedness efforts.
  • Conduct assessments and develop tailored solutions to improve community resilience to chemical incidents.
  • Engage with first responder agencies, including law enforcement, fire, EMS, and public health, to build effective communication and response strategies.
  • Deliver training and public speaking engagements to enhance knowledge and awareness of chemical hazards.
  • Support the development of resources and processes to aid communities in their preparedness efforts.
  • Travel within the U.S. approximately 50% to conduct site visits, training sessions, and stakeholder engagements.

Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities KSAs, and Other Requirements:

  • Must have Secret clearance with the ability to obtain DHS Suitability.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. and travel CONUS.
  • At least ten years of experience in the private or public sector supporting chemical production, refinement, transportation, hazard awareness, protection, and detection.

Education and Experience:

  • Graduate-level degree or higher in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Toxicology, or Industrial Health with a focus on chemical-environmental

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to sit or stand at a desk for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to lift 50 bs, go up and down stairs, stand for extended periods, and operate in outdoor conditions.
  • Requires extensive use of computer equipment, including keyboard, mouse, monitors, etc.
  • Must be able to travel throughout the United States and internationally to perform job functions.
